Kevin Dufour

Obituary of Kevin William Dufour

On April 13th, 2024, we lost our beloved Kevin ‘Kev’ W. Dufour. Kev passed away while visiting Lake Louise, AB at the age of 59. He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Magwood, his sons, Patrick Dufour & Andrew Magwood-Dufour, his daughters-in-law, Michelle Dufour & Rachelle Toles, and his grandchildren: Alexander, Tristan & Ronan Dufour.
Born in Ottawa, Ontario and raised in Old Chelsea, Quebec, Kev was the dearly loved son of Shirley (d. 2014) & Larry Dufour (d. 2021), and brother of Alan (m. Maureen), Cathy (m. Darrin), Joanne (m. Stuart) & Sandy (m. Tim). He was very close with his in-laws, his wife’s parents Kathleen & Stan (d. 2020) Magwood, and brothers James (m. Kristina) & Michael. His boisterous and tight-knit extended family encompasses nine nieces, a nephew and four grand-nieces.
Talented in the field of biology, Kev obtained his undergraduate degree, MSc, & PhD before beginning a successful career as a waterfowl biologist for the Canadian Wildlife Service. Kev and Jen began dating in 1988, married in 1991 and lived in London (ON), Ottawa (ON), Old Chelsea (QC) & finally Saskatoon (SK) during their 36 years together.
In his youth, Kev played baseball and hockey, starting a lifelong love of sports he shared with his father. His passion for downhill skiing started at his hometown hill; ‘Camp Fortune’, and continued to the day of his passing. Music also played a central role in his life: a huge fan of artists ranging from Neil Young to modern punk rock, Kev passed on his eclectic taste and joyful guitar-playing to his sons. Happiest outdoors, he always had time for long walks and hikes with Jen and their darling dog Maggie.
Kevin was the definition of a family man, brilliant and generous as a husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, friend and coworker. He was a direct mentor and teacher to many, and made friends in every place he lived. A humble and gentle man, his loss will be felt deeply by all who knew him.
A celebration of life will be held at Saskatoon Funeral Home on April 26th, at 10am. All who knew him are welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Haven Family Connections or The Heart and Stroke Foundation.
