Obituary of Lloyd O'Keefe

Lloyd Edward O’Keefe 1932-2017 It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of Lloyd Edward O'Keefe at the age of 85. Lloyd passed away peacefully on November 20th with family by his side. Lloyd was born in Saskatoon where he resided for his entire life. Lloyd started working as a young man and spent almost all of his career working at the C.P.R. He married Yvette Benoit in 1952 and together they raised five children. Lloyd is survived by his children: Dan O'Keefe (Angela), Laura Bellamy (Bryan), Pat Deuchar (Tracy), Tim O'Keefe (Lynn) and Donna Penner (Dennis). Also left to mourn are grandchildren: Chris (Janell), Brad (Taralee), Brendan (Tracy), Ryan (Jenna), Lisa (Nick), Michelle (Devan), Tracy (Mark), Sheena, Kelly, Shawn, Jarod and Tyler as well as numerous great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister in law Evelyn (Greig) Homstol and sister-in-law Faye Benoit and many nieces and nephews. Lloyd was predeceased by his loving wife Yvette, his grandmother Alice O’Keefe, brother Charles O’Keefe, his father-in-law and mother-in-law Wilfred and Marie Benoit, brother-in-law Charles Benoit and sister-in-law Lorette Benoit. Lloyd was very proud of the family he raised and enjoyed it when we are all together. Earlier years were spent at the lake fishing, golfing, playing cards and enjoying the company of family and friends. Lloyd was always looking for a deal and was able to get out to garage sales looking for treasures until very recently. Everything he bought at the sales he considered a “dandy” and took great joy showing his latest acquisitions to anyone who came to visit. We are thankful that family was able to get together over the last several months to share stories and good times. This lifted his spirits and brought him joy. He will be greatly missed. The family wishes to thank all our friends and extended families who reached out to all of us during this difficult time. We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to Dr. Myles Deutscher for the excellent care and compassion he showed Lloyd , and the staff at Home Instead especially Lucille and Shannon for the care and companionship they provided to our father and comfort it provided to our family. We also would like to thank the Palliative Care nurses and Home Care that assisted dad in so many ways and never failed to bring a smile to his face. Thank you to the Palliative ward at St. Paul's hospital for keeping dad comfortable in his final hours.
