Obituary of Ernest Joseph Babin

1930 – 2019 It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Ernest Joseph Babin on December 30, 2019 in Saskatoon. Born June 6, 1930 to Marc and May Babin in Eston, Saskatchewan, Ernie grew up on the family farm near Eston. He attended school at Red Rock School, St. Peter’s College in Muenster and Campion College in Regina. In 1957 after his father’s passing, he returned to the family farm to farm with his favorite uncle, Jack. In addition to farming, Ernie often toured the country selling farm machinery, attending auction sales and trading stories until he was 79. Ernie was an active member of the Eston community in both the Knights of Columbus and the Lion’s Club where he was instrumental in building a swimming pool for the town and helped to launch the World Gopher Derby. His strong faith guided his life and he was actively involved in the Eston Catholic Church and the Catholic Charismatic Renewal. Ernie will be greatly missed by his loving wife Gloria of 63 years, son Mark Babin wife Doreen (Mitch, Eric and Pam (great-grandson Nolan), Scott and Kayla, Tasha and Adam, Jayd and Jill, Syriess and Austin); daughter Audrey Jackson husband Ken (Rebecca and Tyler, Sam and Meagan). We’d like to thank the staff at Samaritan Place for four years of wonderful care and gentle kindness that was given to Dad. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Eston Sacred Heart Parish. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Parish in Saskatoon.
