Obituary of Viola Sylvia Pannell

Viola (Vi) Sylvia Pannell passed away on February 18, 2020 at the age of 92. Vi was born on April 24, 1927 in Nipawin Saskatchewan the daughter of Harry and Edna Webb. She is survived by her sons Bill (Judy) Pannell, Bernie (Vicki) Pannell and Bob (Maureen) Pannell and seven grandchildren Ryan (Tanya), Sarah (Kim), Jason (Sarah), Christy (Lester), Lindsay (Rick), Erin (Jeff) and Ian. She is also survived by 11 great grandchildren. Vi was predeceased by her husband George Pannell, her parents Harry and Edna and by brothers Harry and Harold. Vi was a friendly outgoing person who enjoyed meeting people and making new friends. She married George Pannell in 1948. The couple moved around in Saskatchewan after George became a grain buyer. After their 3 sons were older Vi returned to work, first in retail and then with the Royal Bank. Vi very much enjoyed her last job with the Royal Bank where she was the designated Senior's teller at the Royal Bank on Broadway Ave in Saskatoon. Vi was an active member of St. Mark’s Anglican Church in Saskatoon and also volunteered with the Saskatoon Chapter of the Canadian Club and at Wanuskewin park. Vi was afflicted with Alzheimer's and spent the last years of her life struggling with this disease. In January 2019, Vi was moved to the Spruce Manor Special Care Home in Dalmeny. The family would like to thank the staff of Spruce Manor for the exemplary and compassionate care they provided to Vi during her last year. The celebration of her life scheduled for 2:00 pm. Tuesday, March 31, 2020 at Saskatoon Funeral Home is now postponed to a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Spruce Manor expansion project, Box 190 Dalmeny, SK. S0K-1E0.
