Obituary of Irene Genevieve Dusener

Irene Genevieve Dusener, 81, of Martensville, SK, passed away on March 25, 2020 at St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon, SK.


Irene was born in Archerwill, SK, on October 9, 1938.  Irene married Norbert Dusener on January 22, 1957.  Irene was a figure skating coach for a number of years, worked and lived on the family farm near McKague, SK, and drove the school bus for 14 years.  In 1993, Irene and Norbert moved to Martensville, SK.  Irene enjoyed playing cards and was a huge fan of curling.  She also enjoyed her workouts at Curves in Martensville over the years and was recently recognized for reaching a 4,000 workout milestone.  Irene treasured the many friendships made through Curves as well as with her neighbours who were more like family.


Irene is survived by her sons, Rick Dusener, Ron Dusener (Kathy), Rob Dusener (Celine) and Ryan Dusener, as well as her sisters, Martha Radford and June Jackson, her grandchildren, great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.  Irene is predeceased in death by her husband, Norbert Dusener, her parents, Ole and Jennie Ramstead, her brothers, Morrel Ramstead, Arvin Ramstead, Ole Ramstead, Lyle Ramstead, Ken Ramstead, Arnie Ramstead and Harvey Ramstead, and her sister, Olive Gustafson.


Memorial donations may be made to the Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan.  The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Irene’s home care nurses, the staff at St. Paul’s Hospital, the doctors and nurses at the Saskatoon Cancer Agency and to everyone who kept Irene in their thoughts and prayers.


Irene’s final resting place will be next to her husband, Norbert Dusener, at Woodlawn Cemetery in Saskatoon, SK.
