Judy McTavish

Obituary of Judy McTavish

The world is poorer today following the death of Judith Diane McTavish, whom absolutely no one called Judith. She was always just Judy.

Judy was born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan on February 17, 1951, and spent the next 70 years bringing warmth and joy into the lives of everyone she met.

She was a schoolteacher by trade, having graduated from the University of Saskatchewan in 1973, and spent more than three decades in classrooms around the city.

When she wasn't with her students, she was cooking and baking, playing piano, and having adventures with her husband Neil, whom she married in 1980, and her two lovely daughters.

She loved to travel, and was forever laughing that infectious laugh. Hers was a life of good works, both personally and professionally. She made everyone around her better until her peaceful death on May 21, 2021.

Judy was predeceased by her parents, Dennis and Mary Wong.

She is survived by her beloved husband Neil, daughters Christy (Alex) MacPherson and Dayna McTavish, granddaughter Isabelle Elian, sister Janice Wong, brothers Joseph and Brian Wong, and in-laws, nieces, and nephews.

Our deepest thanks and gratitude to everyone at Sherbrooke Community Centre for their kind and compassionate care. It is a remarkable institution staffed by angels.

Judy was not fond of funerals and asked for a private celebration of her life, a request her family will honour.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to Sherbrooke would be most welcome. As would an act of kindness, no matter how small, in her name.
