It is with great sadness that the family announces the death of Gladys Merritt which occurred on Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at St. Paul’s Hospital at the age of 72 years.

Gladys was loved and will be remembered by her husband Carman, their three sons and families; son Cory (Tessa) and their children Taylor, Rylan, and Aliyah; son Jason (Tisha) and their children Justin, Noah, and Madison; son Colin (Anita) and their children Kaylen, Evan and Lavena as well as nephew Kirby, niece Shanda, brother-in-law Ed and many other relatives. She was predeceased by her sister Muriel and granddaughter Alex.

She was born to parents Robert and Elizabeth Glass on May 2, 1949, and was raised in Rhein, SK. She later moved to Saskatoon with her sister, Muriel, and met Carman Merritt whom she married and built a life with. She worked many different jobs which included the Saskatoon Public School Board where she worked for many years before retirement, following which she and Carman moved to Leask, SK, where they lived for ten years before returning to Saskatoon. Gladys was very involved with her community wherever she lived. She loved going to dinners and dances with her husband and friends. The Seniors Centre was a big part of her life for many years and she was always willing to help with the activities including cleaning, cooking and whatever else needed doing.

20 years ago, Gladys donated a kidney to her niece in an act of true family love, demonstrating the importance of family in her life. She spent every summer for 40 years camping at Memorial Lake with her family, often taking all the grandchildren at once. She and Carman were able to enjoy six years travelling south to spend the winter in Mesa Arizona. One of her favourite pastimes was playing cards with family and friends; however, she also enjoyed time at the horseshoe pits, on the golf course, bowling, curling, and working in her beautiful garden at their home in Leask.

Gladys will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all her family and many friends.
