CHUEY, Jane
November 15, 1951 – November 2, 2021

It is with great sorrow that her loving husband Garth Horn and the family of Jane Chuey announce Jane's passing on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at the Hospice at Glengarda.

Jane was born in Melfort, Saskatchewan to Peter and Nellie Chuey and grew up with her 8 siblings on the family farm at Brooksby. After graduating from high school in Prince Albert, she attended Robertson Business College in Saskatoon and went on to have a successful 35 year career mostly with the Government of Saskatchewan's department of Social Services. Always a very caring and compassionate person, Jane donated a kidney to her sister Elsie and extended Elsie's life by several years. “Auntie Jane”, as she was lovingly known by her many nieces and nephews, supported all of their activities with enthusiasm and had a wonderful relationship with all of them. Her siblings also received the same amount of love and generous support.

Jane was a warm-hearted person who loved her family and her many friends. She loved going to Sunday church and enjoyed praying with the people. God was important in her life.  Jane also loved being active in sports like tennis, cross-country skiing, and biking. Summertime highlights included walking the Meewasin Trail along the river, visiting Saskatchewan's beautiful lakes  (especially Candle Lake and Waskesiu) to enjoy the sunshine, walk in nature and be next to the water. Jane met Garth, the love of her life, and started dating in 1990. After a wonderful courtship, they married in December 2003. Now, all of the activities Jane loved to do were shared with Garth and she became part of his loving family. Unfortunately, Jane was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in December, 2020. Shocking news as it was, Jane continued with treatment and kept enjoying precious moments with her husband and family. Jane was a strong-hearted woman who fought the good fight and ran the race.

Jane is remembered by her loving husband Garth; her sisters, Vicki (Morris) Sadowski, Anne (Bent) Sorenson, sister in law Olga Chuey, brothers; John (Rita) Chuey, Walter (Judy) Chuey, Paul (Pat) Chuey, several nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents Peter and Nellie Chuey, her sister Elsie Chuey and brothers Bill Chuey and Orest Chuey, her sister in law Helen Chuey and niece Cathy (Bernard) Hnatiw.

Jane will be greatly missed and always remembered.

The family would like to thank the supportive staff of the Saskatoon Cancer Centre, Palliative Home Care, and the Hospice at Glengarda for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to these services.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, November 8, 2021 at 10:30 am at the Cathedral of the Holy Family, 123 Nelson Road, Saskatoon.
