Obituary of Grace Westad

It is with heavy hearts and great sadness the family of Grace Westad announces her passing, with the love of her family surrounding her, on Monday, October 26th, 2015. Grace and Bob met while working at the Senator Hotel in the mid 1970’s and were married in Saskatoon on August 8th, 1980. Grace is survived by her husband Bob, her mother Mary Piasta of Middle Lake, Sk. sisters; Bernie (Allan) Redgewell of Edmonton, Ab. Mary (Paul) Olynyk of Cudworth, Sk. Nadine (Kenton) Remenda of Lake Lenore, Sk. and sister-in-law Lori (Roger) Helston of Airdrie, Ab. Grace was a wonderful aunt to all of her nieces and nephews and also took great pride in being a great-auntie. Grace was predeceased by her father Nick Piasta, her brother Ray, father and mother-in-law Morris and Bea Westad, brother-in-law Gerry Westad, nieces; Donna and Tammy Redgewell, and nephews Andrew and Michael Olynyk. Grace worked for many years in the hospitality industry where she met some wonderful friends along the way. She loved family gatherings and coffee socials. Her family was number #1 in her heart and she enjoyed phone calls to her sisters. We would like to extend a big THANK YOU to all of the doctors, nurses at the cancer clinic, the palliative care home care team, and all the beautiful caregivers at the Palliative Care unit of St. Paul’s Hospital. Rest in peace Grace, you will be deeply missed by all your family and friends. Funeral

A Celebration of Life Luncheon will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, October 30th, 2015 at the W.A. Edwards Family Centre (333 4th Ave N). Grace’s wish was for no formal funeral, but insisted that family and friends get together for a light lunch and coffee.
