Obituary of Frie James

Jim (James George) Frie Jim was born on January 12, 1931 in Cudworth where he attended Hoodoo school and completed his grade 9. He grew up in a family who had a love of music, known better as the Frie Orchestra who played for many weddings and gatherings around the community. Jim was very active in the Catholic Church throughout his life. He had a passion for flying and was instrumental in the creation of the Cudworth flying club in the 1970’s. Farming was a lifelong passion of Jims and lasted up to the last year of his life. He was fortunate to farm alongside his son Kelly. Jim was a businessman at heart and his long-term involvement with the taxi industry is apparent in the city with his formation of Comfort Cab. His pastime was spent with his long-term special friend Phyllis raising their son Kelly Frie who blessed them with a beautiful granddaughter Aleina. Jim was a positive role model for everyone who was fortunate to meet him and he will be missed by all. Jim is survived by his sisters Florence Hessdorfer, Kathleen Detillieux Phillips (Tom), brother Arthur Frie (Annette), son Kelly Frie and granddaughter Aleina Frie. He was predeceased by his parents Henry and Mina Frie, brothers Elmer and Sylvester Frie and sister Dorothy Diederich. Memorial donations may be made in Jim’s memory to Cystic Fibrosis Canada.
