Obituary of Marcia Bartley

Marcia Allen Bartley passed away peacefully on Dec. 2, 2015 in Saskatoon, SK. Marcia was born April 4, 1955 in Kentville, Nova Scotia. She was the first of nine children of Bruce and Anne Haskins. Throughout her life she always helped those in need, whether it was people or animals. This was evident in the work she did as a social worker, foster parent and mental health counsellor. She always fought for the rights of others and strived to help people overcome obstacles in life. She fostered over 150 foster girls and had a positive impact in the lives of many young people. After her retirement she volunteered with Size Small Dog Rescue and fostered over 100 dogs including many pregnant moms and delivered and raised numerous litters of puppies. She was very passionate about her work with the rescue and went on several dog rescue trips to California. She enjoyed vacations with her family in Jamaica and helped as many dogs and people while she travelled as she could. She loved to host family suppers and cook for all of her friends. She was always the listening ear and people were naturally drawn to her. Marcia was predeceased by her spouse Garry Bartley, her father Bruce Haskins, her brother Martin Haskins, and her partner Manford Bussell. She is survived by her mother Anne Haskins and her children Michelle (Ernie) and Michael (Robyn,) as well as grandchildren Darian, Christian, Eric and Katelyn. She is also survived by her siblings Mark (Vivian), Marybeth (Bob), Marwyn (Irene), Marlon, Marilee, Marlowe and Margolyn (Larry), as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, Marcia and her family would appreciate contributions to the rescue and care of more dogs through Size Small Dog Rescue.
