BAYS,
Beryl Elaine
August 25, 1931 – March 10, 2022

It is with heavy hearts we announce that Beryl Bays passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2022 in  Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.  Beryl was predeceased by her loving husband of 67 years, Bruce in 2018; and their only child, Glen in 2008; Beryl’s parents Victor and Thelma Peterson; brothers David and Glen and their spouses. Surviving family members are cousins Lorna Monax and Gayle Malazdrewich; brother-in-law Bishop Eric and Patricia Bays; as well as
numerous nieces and nephews. Beryl was born and raised in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba.  After graduation she worked for the telephone company until marrying her sweetheart Bruce in 1951.  Bruce’s career took them to several cities starting with Edmonton, Winnipeg, St. Catherines, Windsor, Toronto and finally Saskatoon where they both retired; Beryl retiring from the Federal Government.  Beryl supported Bruce throughout his career  working  diligently at making a warm and happy home.  The move to Saskatoon sadly meant leaving their son Glen at university in Toronto. Beryl was a true Lady with impeccable style, class and grace.   She was fiercely independent, private, thoughtful, kind and very much played by the rules, which caused her to worry about things being proper.  Beryl and Bruce hid their sorrows deeply, especially the loss of their beloved son, Glen.  They otherwise enjoyed a good life, full of travel, friendships and the game of golf.  They were long time members of Riverside Golf and Country Club where Beryl thoroughly enjoyed the view, comradery and  of course, the game of golf.  Beryl and Bruce together were ambassadors of kindness and generosity; they made the world a better place.  Beryl found it very difficult to carry on without Bruce, they truly were a team. Beryl and Bruce will be deeply missed by all their friends, and the people whose lives they touched.

A Celebration of Beryl’s life will take place at Riverside Golf and Country Club on Friday, May 13, 2022  from  4:00 – 7:00 pm.  With a short program beginning at 4:30 pm.  The Celebration will be livestreamed and can be accessed on Beryl’s tribute page at www.saskatoonfuneralhome.com where condolences and memories may also be shared.
