I first met "Bud and Shirley" when I was in grade nine in 1969. Their daughter, Lyn, went to the same school (Aden Bowman) and there were 17 girls in our grade nine class. We were all invited to a sleep-over at their home, so that we could get to know each other because a lot of us did not go to school at the same school in Grade 8. We "slept" in sleeping bags in their family room downstairs. Two girls from that class are still my best, best friends (including Lyn), more like sisters really. It all happened because of Bud and Shirley.... loving, thoughtful and brave. I cannot imagine inviting 17 teen-aged girls to my house for a sleep over! Rest well, dear Bud. You will be missed by so many and touched so many lives.

Bud was truly the nicest man. And a wonderful loyal friend to my dear old dad Donnie. He lent him a pair of shoes for his wedding!
My sincere condolences go to Shirley and the family. May you be comforted by memories of his love, kindness and the positive influence he had during his time on this earth. He will be dearly missed!

Sincere sympathy to the Besse family. I met Bud when I worked in a dental office in the Canada Building when he worked at Hub City Dental Lab. A true gentleman and a wonderful, caring man to deal with. I have never forgotten Bud.

My first contact with Bud was when he came in the 60s to Loreburn to conduct hockey referee clinics. He was an excellent instructor and a patience teacher to those of us trying to learn a new skill. Over the years I enjoyed many interactions with Bud through sports. I had the pleasure of several golf games with Bud a few years ago. What a gentleman and just a pleasure to golf with. My condolences to Shirley and family.

Dear Shirley and family!
My deepest sympathy on Bud's passing!
Truly Saskatoon has lost one of it's finest citizens and we all will miss the quiet, unassuming type of individual that he was. Bud was a well respected business man, a mentor to many in the sports world but most of all, a genuine friend;;;;may he rest in peace!
Sincerely, Joe C. Bloski

My deepest sympathy to Shirley and children and grandchildren. Your husband, father and grandfather lived an exceptional life. He was caring and always considerate of others. A memory I will always treasure is Bud taking this farm boy from Peterson under his wing and introducing him to the thrilling world of hockey officiating, and then Star Phoenix Fastball team. Bud was a man respected by all. A coach, a friend, and a significant player in my life. Thank you Bud.
