Jerry Carriere

Obituary of Jerry Carriere

Jerry Carriere passed away peacefully with family by his side on May 4th, 2023, at the age of 76.

Jerry wore many titles: husband, dad, brother, son, grandpa and friend.

Jerry is survived by his wife Elaine, his children Rachelle, Chris and Robyn and his grandchildren Rhyann, Jackson, Rhylee, Cooper, Jakob and Hudson, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Francis and George Carriere, in laws Albert and Marie Van Impe, Sisters Bernice, Marie and Jeanette, Nephew Jim Carriere and numerous friends.

Jerry was born on March 4th, 1947, in Winnipeg, Manitoba. As a child he grew up living in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan where he remained in his adult years and married his wife Elaine Van Impe. The two had 3 children Rachelle, Chris and Robyn. Jerry started his career at the Dairy Producers as a Power Engineer and moved on to work for the Federal Government where he retired. Jerry was very involved with the Public Works CanadaUnion as Western Vice President.

Jerry started his own senior men's hockey team called "The Blackhawks" and then started his own business C&C Maintenance. He was an avid collector and took the saying "One man's trash is another man's treasure" to heart.

Jerry was passionate about fixing everything and anything he could no matter how difficult the task was, Jerry always got the job done. He had a love for many things including dogs, hockey and drinking Pilsner with his buddies Terry, Freddy, Dennis, Nick, Dave and many more in his garage and clubhouse. He spent many afternoons specifically with his son in law Jamie Kochan in his shop telling stories and giving his knowledge on life and its lessons. Jerry was very thankful Jamie was by his side for the good and bad times.

Being a grandpa came naturally to Jerry. He loved his grandchildren dearly and always enjoyed their company. He was always so proud of them and always tried his best to show them all how much he loved them.

His wife, children, grandchildren and friends remember him as one of a kind. There isn’t quite a way to describe Jerry using words besides caring, loving and stubborn. He wore his heart on his sleeve and would go out of his way for anyone.

Jerry will be missed dearly, but we are so grateful for the time we had to spend with him. We will always feel his presence in our hearts.

Jerry's family wishes to extend a special thanks to the staff of Spruce Manor Care Home in Dalmeny.
