Obituary of Marjorie Ann Rusu

RUSU (NEE BOA),
Marjorie Ann

The family of MARJORIE ANN RUSU is deeply saddened to announce her passing on May 23, 2023 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Marjorie’s family was blessed to be present when she took the hand of Jesus on her final journey home.

Marjorie was born on February 20th, 1945 in Indian Head, Saskatchewan to David Aiken and Kay (Katharina NEE Meyer) Boa. She graduated from Balfour Tech in Regina in 1963. After graduation Marjorie started working with the Eaton Company and eventually joined Molson’s Brewers in their administration office. Fate took over when Gary Rusu walked through the front door of Molson’s one day and the rest was history. Gary and Marjorie were married on June 8, 1968 and she later gave life to two children, Jason and Stephanie. Her love for her husband, children, grand-children and extended family was absolutely enormous.

Marjorie was deeply committed to her family and community. She actively supported her children and community devoting her time at home, at their schools and volunteering her time to ensure her children thrived in their activities. She served as secretary on the board of the Saskatoon Racing Canoe Club, volunteering her time sewing and selling gear for fundraising on race day. She came from a long line of Scottish gardeners (including gardening lines to the Queen) and she had an amazing green thumb. Her garden was always thriving with the newest of cultivars and she was great at attracting songbirds. She grew into an outstanding cook and always credited Ruth Fremes and other Canadian chefs for her love and talent of cuisine. She received the gift of sewing from her mother and Marjorie flourished sewing patterns for so many that requested her talents. Vogue was her absolute favorite. There was nothing she couldn’t tackle. Her faith was strong and she loved being a part of her church community at Zion Lutheran from council work, to committees, teaching Sunday school and singing with church choir.

As her family grew, she focused her attention on supporting Gary’s growing business and providing the business with its accounting needs. Studying piano, she achieved her goal and received her Grade 8 Comprehensive with the Royal Conservatory of Music and continued nurturing her love of all things. She always had 3 books on her nightstand and journaled when journaling wasn’t cool.

Marjorie is predeceased by her parents and brother David Andrew Boa (Yogi Boa). She is survived by her loving and devoted husband Gary and children Jason (Laurie Hunter) and Stephanie (Louis Villeneuve and children Katharina and Maxime). Marjorie’s sisters in law took her in with open arms and she loved them as her own. She adored her many nieces and nephews and made sure she was always helping with organizing family celebrations. Marjorie was a devoted Nana to Katharina and Maxime who will miss so much of her including her famous perogies.
