Obituary of Tony Schmidt

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tony Schmidt on August 25, 2023 at St. Paul’s Palliative Care. Tony will be lovingly remembered by his brother Rick (Linda) Schmidt, cousin Bill Prokochuk (children Stevie and Jason), cousin Johnny Prokochuk and family, his extended family, and his friends at Cosmopolitan Industries, Samaritan Place, and Camp Easter Seal. Tony was predeceased by his parents Annie and Bill Schmidt, his brother James, and his sister TerryAnne Lynn in infancy, along with his uncle John Prokochuk, aunt Katie Dumont, aunt Annie and uncle Charlie Meak, and uncles Steven, Philip and John Schmidt.

Tony was born in Saskatoon on March 12, 1965. He attended John Dolan School, and worked most of his life at Cosmopolitan Industries. He loved going to Cosmo Industries, and he especially loved his trips to Camp Easter Seal in the summer. A favorite pastime was going for coffee with his brother Rick to catch up. Tony was also fond of stuffed animals. A special thank you to Cosmo Industries for providing purpose and comradery to Tony, to Samaritan Place for the love and care they provided to him, and to Palliative Care for their care in his final days.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 from 6pm to 9 pm at Saskatoon Funeral Home (338-4th Avenue North), and the Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at 1pm at Faith River Christian Fellowship (2625 Preston Ave S) followed by interment at Woodlawn Cemetery. Donations in Tony’s memory can be directed to Cosmopolitan Industries or Camp Easter Seal.
