Obituary of Daryl Lee Miller

Daryl Lee Miller
September 12, 1947 - September 6, 2023

We are immensely saddened to announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather.  Daryl passed away in hospital on September 6, 2023 after a short illness.

Daryl was born in Calgary, Alberta to Fern and Rudy Miller. The family moved to Drumheller, AB and later Edmonton where Daryl grew up, attending McKay Avenue and Victoria Composite schools.

Daryl met Cathy Myles in 1969 and they were married in Sherwood Park, AB in 1970. Their son Brian was born in Edmonton in 1974. In 1976, the family of three moved to Saskatoon to further Daryl’s career. In 1977, son Scott was born in Saskatoon. Their family was complete when son Matthew was born in 1978.

Daryl was a proud Dad, attending all the school and sports events over the years and teaching the boys or learning along with them to fish, waterski, downhill ski, snowmobile, drag race, build a cabin, fix a car and whatever else interested him or needed doing.

Daryl had a long, successful career in real estate, starting as a realtor with Melton Real Estate in Edmonton shortly after their marriage and continuing to manager and finally broker/owner of Royal LePage Saskatoon Real Estate. He served on the Saskatoon Real Estate Board including a term as president.

Daryl was a man of many talents and interests. He was a hot air balloon pilot, a road racer and had a lifelong love of cars. A self-taught mechanic, he could fix almost anything. When he wanted to do something, he got the books and taught himself how.

Daryl was a wonderful grandfather with a special bond with each of the grandchildren. After retirement, Daryl and Cathy spent winters in Arizona and summer times at the lake, making many family memories.

Daryl was predeceased by his father Rudy (1994) and mother Fern (2010).

Daryl will always be loved and missed by his wife, Cathy; son Brian, daughter-in-law Jessica and Grace of Kelowna, BC; son Scott, daughter-in-law Rebecca and Claire and Lilah of Warman; and son Matt, daughter-in-law Christy and Hadley and Daniel of Saskatoon.

Also mourning Daryl’s passing are sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Carol and Mike Damberger of Red Deer, Phyllis and Larry Candido of Edmonton, Greg and Sharon Myles of Halkirk, AB, Dorothy Perry and Gordon Tate of Calgary, as well as cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

The family wishes to thank the staff at RUH ICU for their compassionate care.
