Obituary of Kenneth Harold Brown

Kenneth Harold Brown
June 1931 – September 2023

It is with great sadness the Brown family announces the passing of their beloved father, Ken, on September 21st, 2023.  He passed away peacefully with family by his side.  Ken was predeceased by the love of his life, Georgina D. Brown.  Left to mourn is his son Robert (Alberta) Brown, grandchildren William & Katherine (Kate); and daughter Lori (Moneca) McLean-Brown: grandchildren Kyla, William, Brittney (Chris McAdam), and great grandchild Kenzi.  Ken is predeceased by his parents Harold Brown and Mildred Ekran (Bevens) and step-father Sievert Ekran, and infant son, Kenneth Allan.

Ken was above all else, a dedicated family man. His loyalty and love for his wife and children were apparent in his every day actions.  Ken was employed as both a mechanic and in sales at Mid-City Motors, Saskatoon.   Ken spent the remainder of his working career as a heavy-duty mechanic and shop foreman with ASL Paving, Saskatoon, until his retirement in 1993.  During his career, Ken sat on the SAIT committee that provided industry input for curriculum and final examination scope for Journeyman Mechanic certification in the Province of Saskatchewan, and was a board member of the Heavy Construction Safety Association of Saskatchewan Inc. formerly, Roadbuilders Safety Association.

Ken grew up in rural Saskatchewan near Archerwill, and when old enough to work moved to Moose Jaw for a period of time until eventually finding his way to Saskatoon where he met Georgina (Bud) Hopkins.  Ken and Bud were married from 1959 until Mom’s passing in 2014.   Dad and Mom were, above all, devoted parents and grandparents.

The family sends their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of RUH (4600) (unit 1) for the care provided to Dad. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.

For those wishing to pay their respects a visitation will take place on Friday September 29, 2023 from 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm at the Saskatoon Funeral Home (338 4th Avenue N.)

A private family interment will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery at a later date.
