William Michael Woykin

William “Bill” Michael Woykin of Langham, Saskatchewan passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Friday, December 29, 2023 at the age of 95 (11 days short of 96) at the Saskatoon Convalescent Home.

Bill was born January 9, 1928 to parents Michael and Pearl Woykin on the family farm. He was predeceased by his loving wife Helen of 64 years; parents Michael and Pearl Woykin; sisters Mabel Osmachenko and Pearl Woykin; brothers Samuel and Michael Woykin and sister-in-law Shirley Woykin. Bill is survived by his loving daughters Leona Woykin, Jeanette (Wilf) Stringer, Cindy (Barry) Finley, Elaine (Travis) Kieluk, Sherry (Rakesh) Kaushik, 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and extended family Donna Brownbridge. He is also survived by his brother Peter (Donna) Woykin and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bill married Helen Fehr on June 8, 1951. Working on the farm together, Mom and Dad raised dairy and beef cattle and produced grain on the side. They lived on the family farm near Langham until the time of Helen’s passing in 2015. Three years later Dad moved to the Borden Care Home, eventually moving to the Quality Care Home in Saskatoon, and to the Saskatoon Convalescent Home until the time of his passing.

Dad was a very active member on many committees such as Saskatchewan Wheat Pool, Saskatchewan Farmers Union, NDP, Saskatoon Co-op, and the Langham Credit Union. He was also an elder at the Saskatoon Doukhobor Prayer Home. Dad was best known for his unconditional love for his family and his goodbye hugs and kisses. He strongly believed in his Doukhobor heritage and was an active member until the age of 90. He was one of the most hard working, meticulous, strong minded, and big hearted men whom we were blessed to call our father and grandfather.

The family would like to give special thanks to the Saskatoon Convalescent Home for the great care Dad received over the last 9 months. Donations can be made in lieu of flowers to the Saskatoon Convalescent Home in memory of Bill Woykin.

Funeral service will be held Thursday, January 4, 2024 at 11:00 am at the Saskatoon Funeral Home (338-4th Ave N Saskatoon).
