Wendell Wilson

Obituary of Wendell Dennis Wilson

With much sadness we wish to announce the sudden passing of Wendell Wilson at the age of 63. Wendell was born in Etonia, Sask. and grew up on the farm south of LaPorte, Sask. He attended school in LaPorte and Eatonia. Wendell loved meteorology and being able to predict the weather. Upon his graduation from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Science Degree, he went to work for the Alberta Hail Project out of Penhold. His duties included predicting hail storms so that planes could be sent to ‘seed’ the clouds with silver iodide to create smaller and less damaging hail stones. When the Hail Project finally ended, Wendell’s career took him to Greece to work as a meteorologist, and then Estevan, after which he retired. Wendell loved family get-togethers – a chance to visit and enjoy a good meal. And, of course, playing cards. It was not uncommon that he would be the last to go home. He was predeceased by his parents, Elmer and Cora, and brother Gene. He will be greatly missed by his siblings: sister - Marilyn (Jim); brothers - Erin; Murray (Bev); sister-in-law Gayle; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
