Obituary of Vernon Maxwell

Vernon K. Maxwell December 13, 1923 – September 8, 2016 Vernon (Max) K. Maxwell passed away September 8, 2016 at Sherbrooke Veteran's Village in Saskatoon. Vern was predeceased by his parents William and Grace and one brother Denzel. Vern grew up on a farm near Melfort, SK. In 1941 he moved to Saskatoon to join the Armed Forces. Soon after he joined International Harvester as a salesman where he stayed until his retirement, working more than 50 years with the company. In 1956 Vern married Janet C. Hall and built a home on Mckinnon Ave South where he resided until January 2016. Together they raised four children. He was an active member of the Masons and Shine Club in Saskatoon for all of his adult life. Until his health began to slow him down in late 2015 he maintained an active lifestyle and was the consummate salesman, continuing to buy and sell cars & trucks and was always willing to make a deal all the way to the end. Vern is survived by two sisters Mona Aiken of Luther Heights in Saskatoon and Joyce Knox of Ontario, and his children William (Katelynn), John (Noa, Stella, Lola), Marney (Theron, Cameron) and Scott, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank all of the staff at Sherbrooke Verteran’s Village for the excellent care that Vern received during his short stay. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be sent to the Shriners Hospital for Children.

Funeral

A Celebration of Vern's Life will be held at 2:00 p.m on Tuesday, September 20th, 2016 at Saskatoon Funeral Home (338 – 4th Avenue North, Saskatoon).
