Obituary of Viola McAllister

Viola McAllister (nee Sivertson) passed away peacefully on Friday, August 07, 2015 at the age of 96 after a long and fruitful life. Viola was born on the farm near Hawarden in 1918, and lived there with her parents Melvin and Lily Sivertson and brother Gordon. She went to Normal School and eventually taught students, some older than herself, in a one room school. After relocating to Saskatoon she met Keith, married, and raised their 5 children. Vi spent many years working at Eaton’s and greatly enjoyed the post retirement coffee parties. She had many friends who often came over for tea in her beautiful back yard. Flowers were her passion. Viola was a tremendous volunteer to the community and her church. She pioneered a church school program for special needs children and adults. Viola will be lovingly remembered by her children; Rae (Brenda), Pat (Harry), Richard (Gisele) and Bob (Linda) as well as thirteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, brother-in-law Rae and sister-in-law Earla, two nephews Wilf and Greg and families. She was predeceased by her husband Keith, son Ronan, daughter-in-law Kathleen, parents Lily and Melvin, brother Gordon and sister-in-law Mary, and nephew Gary. The family would like to thank the staff of Stensrud Lodge for their gentle care of mom in her last years.
