Obituary of Arnold Propp

Arnold ‘Arnie’ Propp It is with great sadness that the family of Arnie Propp announces his passing on November 6, 2016. Arnie is survived by his soulmate and wife of 48 years, JoAnne, sons Joel (Annette) and Greg (Kelsy), and grandchildren Malcolm, Quincy, Logan, Dylan and Chloe. He is also survived by his sister, Hilda Keller, sisters-in-law Ethel Propp, Ella Propp, Shirley Propp, Judy (Vic) Sincich, and Candace (Gregg) Raynard, as wells a numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Arnie was predeceased by his parents Alexander and Annie, his brothers Ed (Lorraine), Fred (Agnes), Ron (Margaret), Rudy, John and David, and by sisters Dorothy and Ruth. Arnie was born on December 11, 1943 and was raised in Yorkton, Saskatchewan. As a university student, he became involved in the UNTD program. Arnie graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a BA in 1965 and a BComm in 1966. He received his CGA designation in 1989. His early career was in the banking industry, with many moves made across the country. In 1968, Arnie and JoAnne were married and were blessed with the births of their sons Joel in 1971 and Greg in 1973. In 1983, the family moved to Saskatoon, and Arnie became involved in the retail business sector. The opportunities in Saskatoon allowed him to retire in 2007, thereby giving Arnie and JoAnne time for trips to Europe and to spend several enjoyable winters in Phoenix and Victoria. Arnie enjoyed all sports, especially golf, reading, gardening, playing the stock market, as well as going out for breakfast, coffee and ice cream with family and friends. The family would like to thank the wonderful and caring doctors, nurses and staff at the Saskatoon Cancer Centre, at Royal University Hospital, and in the palliative care unit at St. Paul’s Hospital. Special thanks to Chaplain Ron Bestvater at LuMinHos for his kindness and prayers. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of choice.
