Obituary of Bruno Riemer

Bruno Riemer 1925 – 2016 Bruno passed away peacefully at the age of 91 after two months at City Hospital. His parents , Ottilie Hein and Adolf Riemer immigrated from Poland to the Radisson area in early 1925 with their one year old son Paul. Bruno was born October 9, 1925, unfortunately, his father passed away six months later. They all worked hard while growing up in the country. Bruno and Paul came to Saskatoon to finish their high school at Saskatoon Tech. Both of the boys went on to study at the U of S and became Civil Engineers. Dad worked for his uncle Gus Hamp selling bicycles and sharpening skates at the skate shop at the Saskatoon arena while he was attending school. Bruno was recruited by Cominco in Trail, B.C. There he met Christine where they married and had three daughters. They moved to Saskatoon in 1960 where Dad spent five years employed with the U of S as a Civil Engineer. He went on to build United Chemicals with the help of Art Shoquist, Len Walters and other shareholders. They built manufacturing plants in Saskatoon, Regina and Calgary supplying water treatment chemicals. Bruno was a member of the Saskatoon Board of Trade, Fish and Game, and was a Rotarian. Very important to him was his fifty six years as a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. Bruno was also an avid upland bird hunter. Bruno was predeceased by his parents, brother Paul and infant grandson Eric. Dad was a loving, compassionate and honorable man. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of sixty seven years Christine (nee Olsen), daughter Laurel (Ken Jensen), Becky (Kuria), and great grandson Tiree, daughter Gayle (Igor DeVreeze), Sara (Rogerio Tippe) and Mark, daughter Pamela (Bob Thompson) and Evan. Step sister Irene Kraft with sons Roger, Keith and Mark as well as nieces and nephews Greg, Debbie, Reg, Leslie, Craig and their families. The Family would like to thank the staff of the sixth floor at City Hospital for their kind and compassionate care of our father. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lutheran World Relief or to a charity of choice.

Funeral

A Celebration of Bruno’s life will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 812 Preston Ave, beginning at 1:00 p.m.
