Catherine Anderson

Obituary of Catherine Lynn Anderson

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our Queen on December 24, 2016, after a courageous battle with cancer. Cath was born in Saskatoon on May 9th, 1958, (though she liked to tell you '68) to Nick and Eileen Greschuk. She attended Prince Phillip Elementary School and Walter Murray High School. Cathy enjoyed people and made friends easily wherever she went. This is evident in her many lasting relationships obtained through school, her jobs at the Saskatoon Airport, Nutana Curling Rink, Eaton's of Canada, Prairieland Park, Community Training Residence, and her many different social circles. Cathy met her true love and soulmate, Lorne Anderson, early on in her life, and they were married on April 23, 1994. She also fell in love with Lorne's son, Dean Anderson. They resided happily in Hanley. Cathy loved to travel, to garden, to cook and haul meals to the field, to attend her monthly 'Clothes Club' gatherings, and to see her family any chance she could. She was everyone's 'Auntie Cath' and would make you feel like part of the family even if you weren't. Another of Cathy's biggest passions and enjoyments in life was being a Nana to her grandsons, Rhett and Brady Anderson. She made everyday an occasion and was happy to celebrate all accomplishments no matter how big or small. The boys will always remember their Nan's only rule - 'Nana never says no'. Cathy will be lovingly remembered and forever missed by everyone who knew her, but especially by her husband Lorne Anderson, her stepson Dean Anderson (Trish Anderson) and her grandsons Rhett and Brady Anderson. Her Mom and Dad Nick and Eileen Greschuk, her sisters Leanne (Daryl) Glover, Pat (Rick) Savoie and her brother Bob Greschuk (Rhonda Odishaw). Her nieces and nephews, Michelle Schultz and her daughters Roxanna and Katja, Danika Thibodeau (Dominic), Lindsey Ganczar (Brent) and their daughter and Cathy's namesake, Stella Catherine Ganczar, Ashley Cox (Henry), Brennan Savoie, Kyle Savoie. Her Mother in Law, Wynnie Anderson. Her sister in law Dawna Dubyk (David) and their family, her brothers in law Perry Anderson (Roxanne) and family, and Scott Anderson (Corinne) and family. We would like to thank from the bottom of our hearts Dr. Haider and Dena Colleaux for helping Cath fight as hard as she could. We would also like to thank all of the wonderful staff on the palliative care unit at St. Paul's hospital. Their loving care and compassion was like no other and for that we will be forever grateful. For those wishing, donations may be made to St. Paul’s Hospital Palliative Care or Crohn’s and Colitis Saskatoon Chapter.
