Obituary of Patricia Wozniak

Patricia Jean Wozniak Pat was born in Melfort, Saskatchewan on October 19,1952 to parents Joseph and Bertha (Kaminski) Wozniak. She passed from this life on December 21, 2016 at Saint Paul’s Hospital. Pat was raised on the family farm in the Maryville district, northeast of Melfort. She attended school in Maryville, Brooksby, and Star City. After graduation she enrolled at Kelsey Institute where she received her CNA certificate. Pat then furthered her education by enrolling in their bridge program and became a Registered Nurse. She spent 40 years, at Royal University Hospital, working in various wards until she finally got her dream job, Day Surgery, which meant day shifts only with weekends and holidays off. She acted as a long time ward rep for Post Partum and as treasurer and scheduler/rotations for the Saskatchewan Union of Nurses, Local 75. She also was on the board of her condominium complex, serving as secretary. Pat’s passion was for Nursing followed by volunteering, gardening, sewing, quilting, knitting, painting, photography, canning, cooking, and baking. Pat always seemed to be making something for someone, their children or their grandchildren. Pat was blessed with many talents which she shared generously with family, friends and colleagues. Pat also liked to travel, she enjoyed visiting many places around the world, always bringing back beautiful souvenirs. Pat was predeceased by her parents and grandparents Walter and Anastasia Wozniak, Frank and Katherine Kaminski. She is survived by her siblings Margaret Fleming (Robert, nephews Paul and Mark) Gloria McAlister (Clint, niece Megan), Barbara DeWindt (Harry and nieces Frances (Curtis), Krystle(Rhys), Renee(Geoff)), Joanne Wozniak and Joe Wozniak. She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and colleagues. Pat’s family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and staff at the Oncology Department at RUH, The Cancer Clinic, Saskatoon Home Care, Palliative Care at SPH and 5th Floor Medicine at SPH for all their great care during her short but courageous battle with cancer. We would also like to thank her friends and colleagues for their generous help with Pat’s care. In lieu of flowers, we encourage you to make a donation in Pat’s name to the Oncology Ward at Royal University Hospital or to Palliative Care at Saint Paul’s Hospital.

Funeral

Prayer Vigil will be held Friday, January 6, 2017 at 8:00 PM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 10:00 AM. Both services will be held at St.Anne’s Roman Catholic Parish, 217 Lenore Drive in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Interment will be at a later date.
