Obituary of Wilfred Tuttle

Wilfred (Bill) Tuttle passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at Sunnyside Nursing Home in Saskatoon, SK. on February 10, 2017. Bill was born on June 14, 1932 in Tisdale, SK, the fourth child of Wilfred and Margaret Tuttle. As a youngster, his family lived in many small Saskatchewan towns which instilled a love of this province that continued throughout his life. At age 18, Bill started his career with the Royal Bank of Canada in North Battleford. After stints in various small towns, his work eventually took him to Regina. It was soon after, while taking his mother to Milestone that he was introduced to Marjorie Sambrook, who became his best friend and the love of his life. They married on March 31, 1956 in Regina, making homes for their family in Regina, Prince Albert and Saskatoon. He loved to curl and spent many winters with his fellow bankers in cold rinks in amateur bonspiels. He held many positions during his 45 year banking career while making life-long friends. He retired from the Royal Bank in 1989 and then worked as a “Grey Panther” selling retirement investments on behalf of the bank till 1999. Bill was an unassuming man of quiet strength and integrity. His family meant the world to him and he was happiest when they were all together. Whether it was coaching soccer, teaching skating, or simply standing at the sidelines at football games or go-kart races, he was a relentless cheer leader for his children and grandchildren. His failing health in his later years precluded his many loves and interests. Diagnosed with vascular dementia, he could no longer garden, partake in daily coffee hours with fellow retirees, nor bake his famous bread which his grandchildren adored. Bill was predeceased by his parents, Wilfred and Margaret Tuttle of North Battleford, his sisters, Marian (Berry), Evelyn (Bakanec), son-in-law Mark McGregor and grand-daughter, Anna Tuttle. Remembering him with love are his devoted wife, Marjorie, his children: Sheila (Dale), Nancy, Trevor, Leslie (Robert) and Ward (Laurianne), his grand-children Adam (Stacey), Elyse, Meghan (Kenneth), Thomas, Sara (Devin), Mackenzie, Gabrielle, Jackson, Aoibheann and Calvin, his brother Robert (Sandra) of Sydney, BC, sister Donna Bahsler of Saskatoon and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the families would ask for donations to Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan, or a charity of your choice.
