Obituary of Glado Eddith Samuels

Glado passed away suddenly in her home on February 7, 2017 at the age of 92. She was born in Cabri, Saskatchewan on May 24, 1924 and took her schooling in Shackleton, Sk. She entered the School of Nursing at the Regina General Hospital, graduating in 1946, working in Cabri and Nipawin. She married Michael Samuels on November 14, 1947 enjoying 67 years of marriage During their marriage they lived in Nipawin, Pelly, Prince Albert and Saskatoon. She had nursing experience as a general-duty nurse, supervisor, office nurse, private duty and Public Health. She obtained her Diploma in Public Health and worked as a social worker and then head nurse at The School for the Deaf in Saskatoon for more than 25 years. After retiring, Glado and Mike spent 18 winters in Apache Junction, Arizona enjoying many rounds of golf with friends. They were both long time members of the Saskatoon Golf & Country Club. Glado is predeceased by her infant brother John (1920), parents Grant & Henrietta Heard , brothers-in-law Fulton Heron (2008) and Ralph Holmes (2008) and husband Michael (May 25, 2015). She is survived by sisters Ruth Heron of Cabri and Wilma Holmes of Carrot River and 8 nieces and nephews and their families. She is also survived by brothers-in-law John Samuels and Ernest (Eileen) Samuels and nieces and nephews. Donations may be sent to the Ronald McDonald House.

Funeral

At her request there will be no funeral service. Glado’s ashes will be laid with her husband Mike’s with their parents in Cabri and Canora’s cemeteries.
