Obituary of Phyllis Metropolit

Phyllis Metropolit 1932-2017 This is the story about my mom Phyllis Teklia Yuzwenko born April 18,1932. She grew up in Cudworth with her parents Karol and Teklia Yuzwenko and her brother Mike (all deceased). My mom enjoyed life she loved to dance and sing and was very social and was asked 7 times to be bridesmaid but that all stopped on that fateful day when she met a handsome young farmer Miro Metropolit and it was love at second sight © They were married within a year and moved to his farm in Meacham and a year later they gave birth to me Dreen(Metropolit)then to Deborah (McCallum) and Myra (O'Coin)and we in turn gave her 3 grandchildren Alis Metropolit Andrew McCallum and Mathew Kowalyk and 1 great grandson Cameron McCallum It was not an easy life on the farm but Mom adapted well and was active with the church I can esp. remember all the fall suppers and all the chickens and pies she would make. In 1974 they sold the farm and moved to Saskatoon to O'Neil Cres. Here mom got a housekeeping job with the Co-op college and made some lifelong friends. They even had a league bowling team. After many years in the city they decided to move around a bit and lived in Medicine Hat twice as well Vegreville. As they prepared to move back to Saskatoon my Dad suddenly passed away and after over 50 years of being together they were no longer. Mom decided to move back to Saskatoon where she first lived on Herold road then to Colombia Manor and then Stensrud lodge. Everywhere she went people commented on her joyful personality, her generosity, her endless supply of colorful jokes and chocolates. People always dropped by to have a visit or a teacup read. She will be remembered for her smile but mostly for being our mom, baba and great grandmom. Mom passed away April 29th peacefully. Goodbye mom you will always be in our hearts and our teacups.
