Obituary of Charlene Edith Phillips

Charlene Edith Phillips was given life by her Creator and was born September 22, 1959 in Tisdale, SK, the child of John Robert Grout and Frieda Lenora Grout (nee Serfas). On July 16, 1994 Charlene was united in holy marriage to Edward Phillips. They have resided together in Saskatoon since 1994 until Charlene was moved into the Parkridge Centre Special Care Home in Saskatoon in December of 2015, after several lengthy hospital stays. God blessed Charlene with a holy death on May 10, 2017 at St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon and took her home to rest in the arms of Jesus until the resurrection of the dead. Charlene’s vocations included that of wife and homemaker. She also enjoyed employment in babysitting and a year in the housekeeping department of the Saskatoon Inn. She undertook study in clothing design and became a seamstress in her own home based business for a few years. She also served her Lord with strong faith in her church life and following in her mother’s footsteps, through the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League – Canada (LWMLC). Her hobbies included various arts and crafts. She especially enjoyed taking care of her fur babies. Charlene was predeceased by her father John in September of 1997 and her mother Frieda in April of 2011. She is survived by her devoted and loving husband Ed and her older brother Reverend Robert Grout (Lorna) of Wilkie, SK. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 1405 31 St W, Saskatoon, SK, S7L 0R9 or to the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League – Canada (LWMLC).

Funeral

Her funeral service will be held at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 1405 31 St W in Saskatoon on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at 2:00 pm. Interment of ashes at Woodlawn Cemetery and a luncheon at the church will follow the service.
