Obituary of Hibbert Donald

February 21, 1938 - May 19, 2017 We are saddened to announce the sudden passing of our husband, father, grandfather and friend, Don Hibbert, on Friday, May 19, 2017 at the age of 79. He was stricken with a massive brain aneurism and died peacefully with his family by his side. Don lived a full and joyful life and is survived by his loving wife, Val of 58 years; children Elaine (John) and Scott (Teri-Lin); grandchildren Eric, Marina and Sean McGowan and Jordan and Carter Hibbert. Born in Cabri, Sask., he moved with parents, Handford and Meta, to Saskatoon, attending Victoria School and Nutana Collegiate. While at the U of S Don played football with the Saskatoon Hilltops forging friendships that have lasted through the years. Don was a teacher and administrator for 32 years with the Saskatoon Public School Board. He especially enjoyed coaching track and field. After retirement he excelled at woodcarving. Don and Val travelled extensively and delighted in annual sojourns to Mexico with friends, enjoying many laughs and good times. Val and Don were long-time members of the Kinsmen and Kinette Clubs. They loved their summers at Waskesiu and more recently at Emma Lake. He always was caring and had a kind word and exuberant smile for everyone. Don’s greatest joy was spending fun times with family and friends.
