Obituary of Blanche Mary Christensen

Blanche Christensen (nee Butler) Blanche Christensen (nee Butler) died peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, May 21, 2017 at the Saskatoon Convalescent Home at the age of 98. Blanche was born in Saskatoon on August 25, 1918 where she lived most of her life. She is survived by her daughter Alice Hartman of Vacaville, CA, sons John (Dorothy) of Calgary, AB, Alfred (Stephanie) of Saskatoon and Robert (Cathy) of Saskatoon, 10 grandchildren, 16 great- grandchildren, 1 great-great-granddaughter, her sister and brother-in-law Lorraine and Phil Saretsky of Saskatoon, and brother-in- law Garnet Buck of Saskatoon. She was predeceased by her husband Alf, sisters Irene Day and Yvonne Buck and brothers Albert Butler and Lawrence Butler Blanche was a devoted member of St Mary’s and St. John Bosco Roman Catholic Churches particularly through her involvement in the CWL and the Church Choirs. Throughout her life she was busy with her many interests. Her passions included bowling, bingo, dancing, playing cards, playing washboard in the Holiday Park Seniors Jug Band and she was known as the Shuffleboard Queen among the staff and residents at the Saskatoon Convalescent Home. Blanche’s family and friends remember her as a happy person whose smile when she saw you could light up a room and fill your heart with love and joy. Rest in peace, Blanche. We love you. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations in Blanche's name be made to Saskatoon Convalescent Home Foundation at 101–31st Street W Saskatoon, SK S7L0P6.

Funeral

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John Bosco Parish, 1202 Avenue O South, on Friday, May 26 at 1 p.m. There will be a gathering in the School Auditorium after the mass and interment at Woodlawn Cemetery will follow.
