Alma Ferster April 21,1928 - July 17, 2017 It is with deep sadness we say goodbye to Mom. She passed away on Monday. She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by her daughters and their families, Rose Kaduk, Linda & Jim Barnes, Dianne & Dean Haaland, Janet & Ron Wurtz , and her grandchildren Mary & Mike Godwin, Andrea Kaduk, Greg Kaduk, Brent & Leanne Barnes, Angie Haaland and Colton Kuryliw, Kristy Haaland, Crystal & Kevin Perry, Jessica Wurtz & Hector Beccera, Scott & Krystelle Wurtz , Ryan Wurtz & Sarah Twa. She also leaves behind 9 great grandchildren, Klaya & Kalum, Hunter, Isabelle & River, Jordyn, Brady & Serena. Alma was born in Podolin, Poland in 1928 and lived through many difficult times in Poland & Germany. Alma leaves behind many nieces, nephews and cousins in Germany from her mothers side of the family and in Canada from her fathers side of the family. She immigrated to Canada with her parents in 1948 to escape the war. They joined her fathers family in Leask Sk. where her father farmed along side his many brothers & sisters. Alma was a very strong hard working woman and took pride in her accomplishments. She loved to bake and even won an award for her cinnamon buns while working at the Sheraton Cavalier. She had a short career as a pastry chef but chose to retire early to look after her mother when her father passed away. She loved to cook for everyone and also loved to crochet & sew, making hundreds of patch work quilts for her family and many others. She also donated a quilt for the Clinkskill Tele-Miracle raffle for many years while residing there. Her perogies were a family favourite. She even got all her grandkids together for a perogie making bee in her little suite at Clinkskill. The place was a mess but all the kids had a great time working with her. The family would like to also thank the Dr. Ubhi and the staff in St.Paul's Hospital, 5A-OBS for their kindness and compassionate care of Alma during her short stay there.
