Obituary of Josephine Roach

It is with deep sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of our beloved mother, wife, grandmother, and friend, Josephine (Jo/Josie) Roach on Saturday, July 29th, 2017. She is survived by her loving family; husband Dan, son Rob (Abbey), daughter Kimberlee (Tim, Danielle, Brianna), and son Jason (Teena, Jocelyn, Austin, Kyla), sister Caroline (George), Kathy (Lorne), Art (Linda), Shirley (Ernie), Frank (Val), John (Sandy), Michelle (Barry), numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Josephine was predeceased by her parents, Francis and John Zimmer of Melville, SK. She was born on the farm near Esterhazy, SK on March 19th, 1944. From early on, she cared for everyone in her life, even leaving school early to help provide for her younger siblings. Her nurturing nature led her down the path of caring for others, as a mother, grandmother, friend, and co-worker. Others outside her family benefitted from her caring nature through her time as a Special Care Aide at the Sherbrooke Community Centre, and Saskatoon City Hospital. Jo was a loving mother with a strong sense of family and commitment, and one of her greatest joys was having her entire family in the same place, at the same time. She selflessly sacrificed herself for her husband, children, and grandchildren, and no one ever left her home hungry. Holidays weren’t just events, they were extravaganzas. Her passing has left a big hole in many hearts, and we will all do our part to continue her work as she watches over us. Her family would like to thank the RUH ICU staff for the care and compassion they provided. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or the MS Society of Canada would be appreciated.
