Obituary of Gordon Bonnor

GORDON SAMUEL BONNOR August 11, 1940 - August 24, 2017 Gordon passed away at St. Paul’s Hospital at the age of 77 years after a long hard battle with intestinal pain. Gordon was predeceased by his father, Samuel Bonnor and his mother, Jean (Dodson) Bonnor. He was also predeceased by his sister Maryann Pachla of Vegreville, AB. Gordon is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Eileen (Hill) Bonnor of Saskatoon, sisters Beverly (Bud) Graham of Turtleford, SK, Gloria Weiler (Al) of Paradise Hill, SK and Penny (Len) Spenst of Nepean, ON. Gordon was born in Carnduff, SK on August 11, 1940. The family then moved to a farm in Fort Pitt District, SK where he attend a one room school and was taught by his Aunt Sue Bucham. He went to high school in Frenchmans Butte, SK. Bordon received a Hantelman Scholarship and enrolled in the University of Saskatchewan College of Agriculture where he received a Bachelor of Agriculture Degree (BSA). He then went on to the University of Saskatchewan College of Education where he received his Bachelor of Education Degree (Bed). His first year of teaching was in Estevan where he taught high school at ECI, returning the following year to Saskatoon where he taught in the elementary school system, teaching at Wilson, Grosvenor Park, College Park, Alvin Buckwold and Silverwood Heights Schools. Gordon retired in 1996 after 29 years of dedicated serve to education. Gordon touched many lives during his teaching career. Gordon and Eileen loved their large circle of friends who came for visits and laughter. Gordon loved his yard and took great pride in his potted geraniums around the yard and he always had a well manicured lawn. He loved his cabin at Pike Lake where he enjoyed the peace and tranquility of the lake.

Funeral

A Service of Remembrance will be held on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at 11:00 am at Saskatoon Funeral Home (4th Ave. & 25th St.) followed by a reception at the Edwards Family Centre. In lieu of flowers donations made in Gordon’s memory to the Saskatoon City Hospital Foundation would be appreciated. Condolences for the family may be left at www.saskatoonfuneralhome.com.
