Louise Sommerfeld

Obituary of Louise Sommerfeld

The family of Louise Sommerfeld (nee Gustafson) is saddened to announce her passing which occured on Monday September 11, 2017. Louise was born in Kelliher, Sk. on March 28, 1933, the youngest child of Axel and Elizabeth Gustafson. When Axel passed away in 1943 the family moved to Saskatoon where Louise attended Victoria School and later Nutana Collegiate. Shortly thereafter she met her husband Keith, and after a four year romance, they married on August 5th of 1955 and enjoyed 54 anniversaries together, during which time they raised their two daughters, Leslie and Leanne. Louise enjoyed bookkeeping for the family business, Sommerfeld Electric, until they took an early retirement and opened the Main St. Car Wash. Louise was predeceased by her husband in 2009, her parents, and siblings Alvin, Lorraine, Alice, and Muriel. She is survived by daughters Leslie (Stephen Playford), and Leanne (Robert Mueller), sister Patricia (Bud Stohl) and numerous nieces and nephews. Louise loved the home that Keith and her had customized for themselves and filled with his many carvings. She enjoyed travelling with her family, having visited from Pacific Rim to Signal Hill. She especially enjoyed big family gatherings, most recently our “Gustafpalooza” at her home just this August. She had a life long interest in puzzles of all sorts which kept her keen, problem solving mind entertained in those quieter times. With Louise's calm, loving, and methodical nature she will be truly missed and yet contnue to be an inspiration to her daughters and others for many years to come. In memory of Louise, her chosen charities are Canadian Blood Services and the RUH Foundation.
