Obituary of James Frank Winder

James (Jim) Frank Winder 1943-2017 James (Jim) Frank Winder died peacefully on September 15, 2017 from complications of Alzheimers Disease. He is survived by his wife Carol (nee Hartt), his sons Kelly (Fern Stockdale Winder) and their children Nancy (Parker MacDonald), James and Deanna, and Kevin (Ingrid nee Hillert) and their children Rachel, Rebekah and Michael. He was predeceased by his parents Frank and Ethel Winder and his daughter Tina. Jim was born on September 26, 1943 in Saskatoon. He married Carol Hartt in July of 1965 and they lived first in Saskatoon, then in Dalmeny. They lived in an energy conservation house that they designed and built in the 1970s. They moved back to Saskatoon in 2013. Jim worked at SaskTel and greatly enjoyed his work as a switchman. He worked for SaskTel for almost 30 years before retiring at the age of 50. After retiring he worked part-time at the Dalmeny Spruce Manor Special Care Home and enjoyed woodworking, gardening, canoeing and travelling with Carol. He loved a good laugh, music that you could tap your foot to, and visiting with people. He could make conversation with anyone! Jim was an active volunteer in his church, in his community and in the camping program at The Quest at Christopher Lake. His presence was greatly missed when his disease progressed to the point where he was unable to volunteer. Thanks to the staff at the Luther Day Program, the Luther Intermediate Care Home and Sherbrooke Community Centre for their wonderful care and respect and love for Jim and for their support of the family. It was truly appreciated.
