Obituary of Annette Altrogge Masson

We sadly announce that Annette passed away in Ann Arbor, Michigan following a brief illness. She is lovingly remembered by her mother, Florence Altrogge; three brothers Richard (Alice), Norman (Karen), David (Audrey) Altrogge; two sisters Michelle (Normand) Fontaine, Carmelle (Dave) Christiansen as well as 14 nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her fathers Alfred Altrogge and Edwin Altrogge. Annette received her Bachelor of Education (English and music) from the University of Saskatchewan in 1978. She left after college, never really looking back, and lived in many places: Calgary, Vancouver, London England, San Francisco stopping long enough to receive a Master of Fine Arts (theatre education) from Boston University in 1991. Annette was a Professor of Theatre at the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance in Ann Arbor where she spent the last 24 years teaching. Over the years, she was vocal director for countless young actors in University Productions. Her fundamental vocal exercises and dialects expertise were not only Annette's hallmarks, but also became her legacy for every actor who studied with her. Annette indomitable spirit lives on in her many students. We will all miss her infectious laugh, kind heart and beautiful voice. Donations, in her memory, could be sent to the Saskatoon Cancer Centre, 20 Campus Drive, Saskatoon S7N 4H4 or to a scholarship set up in Annette's name. Cheques may be made payable to the University of Michigan, noting "Annette Masson Scholarship" in the memo line and can be sent to the University of Michigan, School of Music, Theatre & Dance, 2005 Baits Dr, Ann Arbor, Michigan USA 48109-2075
